Friday, April 28th Leave Dublin and Explore, Landing in Galway

Newgrange Stone Age Passage Tomb
Newgrange is a Stone Age monument in the Boyne Valley, County Meath, Ireland. It was built about 3200 BC during the Neolithic period, which makes it older than Stonehenge and the Egyptian pyramids. Newgrange is a large circular mound with a stone passageway and chambers inside. The mound is ringed by ‘kerbstones’ engraved with artwork.

Hill of Tara

A Celtic Place
Tara is one of the largest complexes of Celtic monuments in all of Europe. In reading its landscape we are transported back in time to when the first settlers came here 6000 years ago. They and the Celts who followed them chose Tara as a very special site.

Trim Castle
This is the stuff movies are made of. It’s no wonder that the makers of the movie ‘Braveheart’ chose Trim in County Meath as the shooting location for their epic thriller. One look at Trim Castle’s stony outline against a dramatic Irish sky and storybook images of valiant warriors and timid monks spring to life.

Hello Julie, best and most picturesque route is to Bantry, then Skibbereen, then Clonakilty. The roundabout nr Scallys Supervalu has Ardfield signposted, follow the signs to Ardfield until you see The Mountain House Pub, you take the next turn right signed St James Well, pass 4 bungalows, then the next bend you will find 2 stone cottages, we live in the cottage on your left, yours is on the right. Safe journey. Rosie
